Son of John Sheeran, art teacher, and Imogen Sheeran, jewelry designer and publicist. He grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk, in a Catholic environment.

Edward sang in the church choir when he was four years old and played the guitar since he was very young.

His music is characterized by mixing musical styles, hip hop, pop rock, acoustic, folk and indie.

In 2012 Sheeran won the British revelation artist and British male solo awards at the Brit Awards.
